GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textile supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.

  • Minimum 70% certified organic fibers (95% for 'organic' label)
  • Strict limits on toxic inputs like heavy metals and formaldehyde
  • Wastewater treatment required at processing facilities
  • Fair labor practices throughout supply chain

How to Identify

Look for the GOTS logo (green shirt design) with a license number that can be verified in their database.
