Drywall & Wall Panels
Gypsum board used for interior walls and ceilings. Generally low-concern but some specialty boards contain additives, and joint compounds may contain concerning ingredients.
Why It Matters
Standard drywall is relatively benign, but mold-resistant boards may contain antimicrobial biocides. Joint compounds can contain formaldehyde. Sanding creates silica dust exposure.

- Dry sanding without dust collection
- Formaldehyde in joint compounds
What to Look For
- ✓Standard gypsum board for most applications
- ✓Low-dust joint compounds
- ✓Pre-mixed joint compounds (lower VOC)
Finding Safer Options
Standard gypsum drywall, pre-mixed joint compounds, magnesium oxide boards as alternative, proper dust control during sanding.
